What it Means to be an NCDC Member

1.1  Member of NCDC: You represent a collective mission of northern voices from industry and governments that advocate for international trade through supply chain infrastructure enhancements and economic investments along Canada’s northwest corridor.

1.2  You Commit To Our Collective Promotion:  To bring awareness to senior government decision makers and industry investors on the needs of and the economic importance of prioritizing investment into the development of the northwest transportation trade corridor.

1.3  You Commit to Our Collective Advocacy:
We, the collective NCDC membership, advocate for directed and timely investments from governments and industry into our northern airports, highways, railways, ports, pipelines, and manufacturing / processing facilities so that the northwest region of Canada not only contributes to the national GDP but also that our local communities prosper.

1.4  You Commit To Our Collective Understanding:
Once again the northwest corridor / northern Canada is exploding with interest from national and foreign investors.  This is not a new experience for Canada’s northern regions; for decades >80% of the total new money created through Canadian exports comes from selling Canada’s raw commodities extracted from the northern regions.  This time however there are different variables at play on the global markets that are forcing the issue of trade and transportation infrastructure investments into the northwest.  The raw commodities of Canada’s north are in huge demand on the global markets (e.g. coal, forestry, diamonds, fertilizer, natural gas, oil, grains).   Canadian based industries are looking for new trading partners in the Asia-Pacific. Yet, Canada’s current trade and transportation assets largely reflects decades of investments that have built a dynamic southern supply chain system that was founded upon the primary trade markets of previous generations.  We are in the midst of a global realignment. It’s time for Canada to invest in building a complimentary supply chain system that captures the Asia-Pacific emerging markets. To achieve this northwest / northern Canada requires committed long-term investments into the development of airports, highways, railways, pipelines and auxiliary supports, services, and industry specific infrastructure.

1.5  You Commit to Our Collective Mission:
To facilitate and advocate for international trade through Canada’s northwest corridor.

But only if we have a collective northwest voice.  NCDC is that collective voice!

We need your support to get there!
